The Origin- Surprisingly, the 10,000 step goal didn't originate from scientific research. It traces back to a 1960s Japanese marketing campaign for a pedometer named "manpo-kei," which translates to "10,000 steps meter." The number was chosen more for its appeal than its scientific backing.
Research Reveals- as few as 4,400 steps per day can significantly reduce mortality rates in older adults, with benefits leveling off around 7,500 steps.
The Bottom Line- So, while moving more is beneficial, obsessing over 10,000 steps isn't necessary for achieving a chiseled physique. Incorporating strength training and a balanced diet are also crucial components of a well rounded fitness regimen
